Session: Choices Made and Risks Taken

Ann St. John, Sue Aquila and Jane St. John are three very different sisters (two by birth, one by acquisition) who have succeeded in very different careers in Bloomington. Hear about their individual and intertwined stories of success and how their support of each other has been integral to it. We have three varied stories: Sue is a highly successful entrepreneur, real estate developer and world class tri-athlete whose parents disowned her for being gay. Sue’s demeanor is high technology and high efficiency. Ann has very successfully owned her own business for 25 years. She is best known in Bloomington for her wide reaching and creative philanthropy which includes ensuring academic success for children even though her experience of school was pretty much miserable. Ann’s demeanor is direct with a big dose of heart, once you know her. Jane has had three careers in Bloomington. Her first was implementing the city’s curbside recycling program; most recently it was helping to build a well-known local company, Solution Tree, for 14 years, including starting its international efforts. Her demeanor is can’t-wait-to-win-you-over.
